My Story
I was a teen when I first envisioned myself as an artist. Each large, magnificent, finished piece was moved outside to my garden where the sculpture's angles and shadows would change in the sunlight over the course of a day, or a season. In that imaginary world, I was an artist and I was engaged and profoundly happy.
The work that opens this web site is titled “Act III” and represents my decision to pursue art full-time. I completed it in two days, inspired by a piece of Cartier jewelry I saw in the September issue of Vogue magazine. It is aptly named for it represents the birth of the third chapter or “Act” in my adult life after retiring from two lengthy and completely different careers – one in corporate America and the second as an independent school administrator. I am a self taught artist and I love my Act III. While I suffer from imposter syndrome, each time I look at this sculpture, it gives me the confidence to work harder and remain focused on my goal: to produce work that speaks, that inspires, and that powerfully moves the viewer.
Act III, along with four other sculptures, earned a juried decision for my entry into the National Association of Women Artists. Created in 1889, it is the oldest women's fine art organization in the country. I am honored at being invited to become a member of this esteemed group of women.
